فاعلية استخدام إستراتيجية قائمة على المدخل الكليّ في تدريس القراءة في تحسين مهارات الاستيعاب القارائيّ لدى طلبة الصف التاسع الأساسيّ

Abstract AR

This study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of using a strategy based on a whole language approach in teaching reading on improving reading Comprehension skills among ninth grade basic students, Compared with the traditional strategy of teaching.

The participants of the study consisted of (123) students.

The classes of the participant were randomly divided into two groups: one is experimental which was taught using a strategy based on a whole language, and the controlled group which was taught using a traditional strategy.

The reading Comprehension test prepared by the researcher was applied pre and post the experiment.

The data obtained were analyzed by using (ANCOVA) test.

The study revealed that there were statistically significant differences (α=0.03) in reading comprehension skills between the experimental group and the controlled group in favor of the experimental group.

Also, there were statistically differences (α=0.02) in reading comprehension between male and female students in favor of the female students.

No statistically differences between the two groups were related to the interaction between the strategy used and the gender.
