The crystal structure of 2-amino-N0 -[(1Z)-1-(4-chlorophenyl)ethylidene]benzohydrazide (I) is determined by X-ray diffraction at room temperature.
The structure of I also was characterized by elemental analysis, mass, FT-IR and NMR spectroscopic techniques.
The compound crystallizes in triclinic system, and space group is P1.
Unit-cell dimensions are the following: a = 7.05380(10) A˚, b = 7.65490(10) A˚, c = 13.7094(4) A˚, V = 694.01(2) A˚ 3, Z = 2.
The title compound is nearly planar and has intermolecular N–HO hydrogen bonding.
According to the spectral data, I exhibits an amide-iminol tautomerism.
