Abstract EN

Three experiments were conducted to test the shoot regeneration capacity of the shoot tip, flower stem and in vitro leaf explants in different culture media.

Shoot tips and flower stems of the gerbera cultivars Ameretto, Red Bull and Yanara were used as explants in experiments one and two.

In vitro produced leaves of the gerbera cultivar Ameretto were used as explants in experiment three.

The shoot tip showed better shoot regeneration in a medium containing 5.0 mg/l BA than in a medium with kinetin + 2ip both at 0.5 mg/l.

Within the gerbera cultivars tested, only the flower stems of the cultivar Red Bull formed shoots, while those of cultivars Ameretto and Yanara formed callus only.

In vitro leaves regenerated shoots in media with both low and high BA concentrations but not in BA-free medium.
