Abstract EN

Many studies have addressed the patterns «manipuJatin - Gerrymandering - the delimitation of ^rliamentary eonstitueneies in Egypt, Any one of those studies did not explain the impaet of this manipulation ON the electorates voting, this researeh aims to analyze the impaet of manipulation ON the voting process and the behavior of voters, through the study of the voting process In the parliamentary elections of 2005 in three constitueneies that are characterized administratively fragmented, Shamaa, Estanhaa and Menouf, the study relied on voting data, using area-structure approach, and inductive approach.

The study ' that administratively fragmented constituencies ereates spatial polarization in the voting process and voters' behavior ,The majority of voters prefer to elect the eandidate who belongs to their administrative division , if the constituency is equally fragmented in terms of the number of registered voters, the spatial polarization is enhanced .

If the constituency is not fragmented evenly, spatial polarization decreases , and the results of voting determined by the bulk of the constituency , many of the votés in the smaller section of the ،،Vdministratively fragmented constituencies become lost voices, therefore the study recommends that the authority of re-delimitation of constituencies should respect the existing administrative boundaries .
