Abstract EN
This study discusses the applications of technology in the registration of monuments and museums* security.
The documentation system of the museum refers to the procedures taken for collecting, and using information, and then displaying it in the museum.
In fact, the main purpose of the documentation system of the museum is to preserve the collections of the museum and make the best use of the available information.
Moreover, this documentation system involves the contents of the museum, the control of the movement of groups inside the museum, the borrowing system, the insurance, and the financial system.
It also includes the preparation of the brochures, the lectures, as well as the development of the displaying system.
It involves the preparation of the storage for a long period.
The documentation may extend to the registration of models, the references, the audio and visual devices.
Furthermore, it includes the illustrated records, the human resources and the activities of the museums.
In short, the documentation and the registration should be sufficient \ Most of the countries have many museums, which possess collections of artifacts.
There is no doubt that the data of the artifacts needs an efficient and easy information system.
The information of the pieces includes the provenance of the pieces, and the name of the excavations.
Every museum should have a reliable information system.
This system should be shared with other museums by executing a joint documentation on the internet2.
The joint documentation could be simply done by a computer connected to the internet.
Therefore, the information could be obtained from other computers, information banks, as well as other museums throughout the world3.
Many of the museums of the world have information systems online, because the role of the museum is not confined on collecting artifacts4, but the museum must be an information center.
It answers any questions about its artifacts.
Records and cards are usually used for this purpose, but the computer plays the most important role in the registration process.
Doubtless, the computerized documentation and registration system perform the task of saving and procuring information in an easy and effective way5.
Contacting other museums, more information could be collected and the museum may know if there are similar pieces in the other museums.
Therefore, the evolution of the pieces, whether they represent artistic or technical stages, can be traced.
Other information could be known such as if these artifacts were stolen or sold.
Photos and models of the pieces are possibly acquired online.
In brief, the internet facilitates obtaining information, making researches about the artifacts in many museums.
