This paper investigated the contribution of lmam Abu Ubaid bin Sallam to the writing of the Qur’an.

He was among the first scholars who paid attention to this field.

He used to have a specific methodology documenting the way the Qur’an was recorded in writing.

Abu Ubaid’s approach relied on narrating from those Who witnessed the age of writing down the Qur’an.

He also relied on reading the old copies of the Qur’an, especially the Imam’s copy of the Qur’an.

Abu Ubaid’s approach influenced the efforts of subsequent scholars who followed his approach except in one aspect that will be explained later.
