English Abstract
This study aims to compare two novels regarding the way they present the campus life.
These novels are Malcolm Bradbury’s “The History Man” (1975), and David Lodge’s “Nice Work” (1988).
The two novels were read carefully and analyzed in terms of theme, setting, characters, plots and main ideologies underlying each.
There was some information about the two authors in terms of biography, methodology of writing and thoughts regarding the campus novel.
The study is also supported with citations from Bradbury’s and Lodge’s most famous works.
Finally, the study comes with a number of results regarding the main topic and analyses as follows: Malcolm Bradbury and David Lodge discussed the good and bad points found in the ‘campus life’ through the situations presented in their novels.
The novelists focused on the late of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries.
A comparative view of the two novels was also supported regarding methodologies and ideologies used by the two novelists.
