Abstract EN

Transparency of the system and its integration into the natural environment of the user are some of the important features^fpthvas^^e computing.

But these characteristics that are considered as the strongest points ofpervasive systems are also their wKak points in terms of the user’s privacy.

The privacy in pervasive systems involves more than the confidentiality of communicbtians/Ondconcealing the identity of virtual users.

The physical presence and behavior of the user in the pervasive space cannortB completey hidden and can reveal the secret of his/her identity and affect his/her privacy.

This paper shows that the applicdt^an of stJte-of-the-art techniques for protecting the user’s privacy still insufficient.

A new solution named shadow protocol is prJposea, which allows the users to authenticate and interact with the surrounding devices within an ubiquitous computing^nvironment/while preserving their privacy.
