Abstract EN

This study aims to identify the food stuffs and their prices at Holy Makkah during the period from ((923-943 H/ 1517-1539).

It is exclusive study for what came in the book of Jar Ullah Bin Fahd, which entitled " Nail Al-Mona".

This study focuses on the prices of foodstuffs such as "wheat, corn, fruits, dates, meats, honey, water, margarine… etc", as well as identify the reasons that led to the raise of such prices and their cheapness according to the Policy of supply and demand.

The study used the historical method, as well as the analytical descriptive method in order to achieve the targets set and to reach to required results.

The study reached to important results from which are the followings: 1- The control of (Al-Mahliq) currency on the transactions of exchanging commercial goods, which are represented in foodstuffs.

2- The diversity of using Weights and measures between local and international, either the Egyptian or the Levant ones.

3- Prices of foodstuffs at Holy Makkah are affected by the Incoming of food grains from, outside , and what accompanies from price stability, and when it delay this leads to rise of the prices.
