This study aims to prove whether the exchange rate is an instrument of monetary policies as it is an intermediate objective, since it is considered by the monetary authority as an instrument of exchange policies through the devaluation of exchange rate so that to achieve the final objectives of the monetary policies which are known as the squares magic (balance of the outside balance, economic growth, stability of the prices, to reduce the rate unemployment,) Concerning the effect of the devaluation of the Algerian currency on square magic variables We performed an econometric study of the chronological sets and tried to estimate some illustrative econometric models for this causality in long terms on one adequate enough period between''1970-2006'', by the manipulation of the Granger causality test and the errors correction model.
