The effect of colorectal cancer in cleavage factor and chromosome aberrations on blood cells in Iraqis Patients

Cancer cells are characterized by cytogenetic abnormalities that can be used to detect specific disease entities and their prognostic and predictive markers.

In colorectal cancer (CRC) chromosomal abnormalities occur in a non-random pattern along the pathway from adenoma to carcinoma and then to advanced lesions and the formation of metastasis.

Forty eight metaphases were screened for numerical as well as structural aberrations of peripheral blood culture (PBC), which were collected from patients suffered with CRC from some of teaching hospitals of Iraqi governorates.

The patients mean aged was 48.44 years male to female 25/23 compared with 10 healthy.

All samples were subjected into Phytoheamagglutinin (PHA) treatment in short term culture for 71.30 hours at 37°C.

There were no significant differences between studied groups of gender and age (p>0.05).

But there were significant differences of mitotic index (MI) so as chromosomal aberrations between patients and healthy p≤ 0.05.

The aim of study was to investigate the cytogenetic effect of colorectal cancer on human blood cells in vitro through study of chromosomes abnormalities.
