Abstract EN

This study aims to use the ethanolic leaves extract of Thevetia neriifolia as a bio-factor for the reduction of silver nitrate to silver nanoparticles and evaluate the adult emergence inhibition activity against larvae of house mosquito Culex pipiens by exposing larvae to different concentration for each of the plant extract and silver nanoparticles were characterized using the standard WHO method.

The silver nanoparticles by UV-Vis spectrum, transmission electron microscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy.

The result showed that the silver nanoparticles synthesized using T.

neriifolia leaves were more effective than the extract of the plant about 33.33 times with IC50 value 85.654 and 2.57 ppm of plant extract and silver nanoparticles respectively.

The results also revealed the existence of morphological deformities in the larval treatment with both the plant extract and silver nanoparticles.

These effects extended in all stages of growth, which cause the destruction of the insect without completing their life cycle.
