Since the use of the students‟ first Language is controversial and not preferred to be used in the English language classes by many academicians at Salahaddin University, this study deals with the university students‟ attitudes of the use of their L1 in the English learning courses.

The study aims at finding out the students‟ attitudes to the use of their L1 in the English Language department courses for better and efficient learning.

It has been concluded that the students of the four grades at English Language Department accept the almost positively acknowledge the use of their L1 (Kurdish) throughout the English Language studying i.e.

teaching and learning processes, ever since learners are meaning seekers.

Generally the results of the study could be implemented in the English Language Departments and English for none-departments.
