Abstract EN

A random study of 100 cases of invasive breast cancer, using Paraffin-embedded tissue, from the pathology department of Al-Birouni hospital and Alassad hospital (2009-2010).

These cases were studied in the pathology department, Faculty of medicine, Damascus University.

The HER2/c-erbB-2 status was determined by the Chromogenic in-situ Hybridization (CISH).

The results were divided into two groups (HER2 / c-erbB-2 positive and negative), then the clinicopathologic characteristics were determined for each group.

We noted differences between negative and positive groups, concerning patient age, hormonal receptor status (estrogen receptor ER, progesterone receptor PR), tumor size, mode of therapy and outcome.

So the classification of breast caner using c-erbB2 status is highly recommended for pathological and clinical impact and influence treatment choices.
