Abstract EN

This study is designed to examine Al-Mutannbi’s Poem ‘Bema Al-ta’alul’ from the perspective of textual analysis, which is known as the study of syntactic properties of text and discourse analysis.

Textual analysis here pertains to the analysis of the poem based on the features of coherence and cohesion as well as identifying the way in which the poet subtly employed the language, at structural, lexical and phonetic levels, to convey the utmost desirable semantic message.

It also examines the relations that do exist between the linguistic elements of the text, with the purpose of finding out the reasons behind its success in building positive attitude among the readers; as this is the product of overall semantic elements, which will eventually shape or serve the purpose intended by the poet.

For so doing, the study covers the employment of pronouns, the nominal and verbal sentences, the rhetorical styles, the phonetic structure, and the phonemic distribution of the poem.

The study also considers some of the noticeable semantic and lexicological aspects of the text.
