Abstract EN

The aim of present study was to investigate the food , environment and abundance of T.ilisha in Shatt Al-Arab river .

two stations were selected ; the first is Shatt Al-Arab Salehia near Altnoma zone and the second station is near Sindbad Island .

Results showed high and low water levels, which resulted in difference in the values of some environmental factors and some elements.

during the period of the samples collected from April 2013 - March 2014.The average length of T.ilisha ranged between 3-47 cm.

Thirteen environmental factors were studied ,The result of which showed that the highest concentration of salinity was in April: 4.22 and 3.67 ppt in the first and second station respectively, and reached the highest temperature in July at 38 and 37 m̊ in the first and second respectively , has been catch T.ilisha in July for two stations as it was the largest number of fish 815 and 500 in two stations study respectively, and when the food examination in stomach fish T.ilisha that was food components from diatoms , algae greens , zooplankton and organic crumbs, the showed results of statistical analysis using the (F-test) ratios Food components No significant differences under level (P> 0.05) between the food components of the T.ilisha.
