دراسة حول تواتر أضداد p53 الذاتية لدى مرضى التهاب الكبد في سورية

Abstract EN

The aim of the study was to determine the frequency of anti-p53 antibodies in the serums of viral hepatitis, auto-immune hepatitis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients in Syria, and comparing anti-p53 antibodies with αFetoprotein (AFP) tumor marker that used in a routine way in HCC patients, so it conclude the promising benefit of participant detection of these two markers in earlier detection of chronic hepatitis development states to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), subsequently the earlier remedy possibility which achieve longer life for these patients.

Anti-p53 antibodies in serums of 50 hepatitis C, 30 hepatitis B, 40 HCC, 10 auto-immune hepatitis patients and 35 of the control group had been analyzed by using ELISA assay.

The account of positive patients was 2, 0, 8, 2, 0 respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).

The presence of anti-p53 was independent of AFP status, in contrast to AFP, which is more likely to be positive in large tumors, the antibodies were detectable in a substantial proportion of small HCCS and and this suggests that anti-p53 could be valuable in scanning tests for tumor patients.

So from this we conclude that, if AFP and anti p53 results are combined this would increase sensitivity and specificity of detection.
