On the light of diversity information sources in terms of formats, its preservation and access by users have become a challenge for archivists, considering the conditions that distinguish each type of these formats.

Audiovisual archives present one of these as their size has grown substantially in Algeria, as a result of recent developments affecting this sector.

This study attempts to address the issue of preservation of audiovisual archives in Algeria focusing on the experience of the National Center of Algerian Archives in this particular area.

The study is based on a survey for collecting the required data.

It consisted of 10 questions divided into four main parts.

The survey questionnaire was completed by 33 archivists.
