English Abstract

In the last years, Jordan has witnessed an increasing growth in the population due to normal increase and forced migration for the people of neighboring countries because of the wars that followed the Arab Spring.

This rapid increase in population led to increased pressure on infrastructure and increased demand for public services in Jordan.

Furthermore, the increasing use of personal cars instead of public transport Facilitating transactions to get a drive license and facilitate loans for the purchase of car.

All these reasons and others, led to the emergence of the problem of traffic congestion.

The main objectives of this study are identifying the essential and most important factors that affect traffic flow as well as identifying the degree of the impact of these factors on cycle time reducing delay and adjusting the phase time (Green, Red, and Yellow).

Furthermore, this study endeavors to establish a model can be used to control and manage traffic flow in a similar intersection of Wadi-Saqra.

To achieve the aims of this study, qualitative research approach was adopted together and analyze the data.

Data was collected from Scats-6 and analyzed by using Synchro-8 and SPSS.

For analyzing, the collected data method analysis was used to enhance the data and Multi regression analysis was extracted to develope a model.

The analyzed data detected that there is a significant impact of volume to capacity ratio, delay and level of service on the cycle time.

Furthermore, the results illustrate that an improvement of the percentage of cycle length will led to enhance the level of service and eliminate the delay.

The essential output of this study was the model which can be used to enhance the control system that used to improve the management of traffic flow in any intersection that have similar characteristics of Wadi-Saqra intersection.

And can be used to develop the electrical control system.
