Abstract EN
The learning outcomes of teaching translation in English departments at Moroccan universities have hardly been the subject of serious debate among translation teachers and researchers alike.
While some trainers tacitly believe that the course is taught simply because it has been part of the English BAcurriculum since the inception of the university in Morocco, others claim that the course trains students to pursue a professional career in translation.
The thesis of this paper is that the Translation class in Moroccan universities, as it stands, can only have academic rather than professional goals.
