English Abstract

The purpose of the study is to find out the effect of applying scoring-rubric on enhancing the writing and the critical thinking skill of secondary stage students in Jordan.

It tried to answer the following questions:- 1-What is the effect of the scoring-rubric on enhancing the writing skill of secondary stage students in Jordan? 2-What is the effect of the scoring- rubric on enhancing the critical thinking of secondary stage students in Jordan? The study used the quasi experimental design because the groups were purposefully chosen from the eleventh grade students in Al-Faroq Secondary School/ Wadi Al-Sir/ Directorate of Education in Amman.

There were fifty students who were assigned to two groups, twenty seven in the experimental The purpose of the study is to find out the effect of applying scoring-rubric on enhancing the writing and the critical thinking skill of secondary stage students in Jordan.

The study used the quasi experimental design because the groups were purposefully chosen from the eleventh grade students in Al-Faroq Secondary School/ Wadi Al-Sir/ Directorate of Education in Amman.

There were fifty students who were assigned to two groups, twenty seven in the experimental - There is a statistically significant difference in the mean scores of tenth grade students' critical thinking test which can be attributed to the scoring- rubric which was significantly improved.

On the basis of the results, the study recommended using scoring-rubric in order to facilitate the process of teaching to those who are involved in the EFL teaching and assessment process.
