Perfprmance of sesame (sesamum indicum L.)‎ genotypes under irrigation conditions in northern sudan

The experiments were conducted during 2000 / 01 and 2001 / 02 seasons at the Faculty of Agriculture Farm, Nile Valley University at Dermal, Northern Sudan.

The objectives of the present investigations are to evaluate the performance of sesame genotypes under irrigation conditions.

Parameters recorded included: number of days to 50% flowering, height above ground to first capsule, plant height, number of leaves per plant, number of branches per plant, seed yield per plant, seed yield per unit area and seed and oil quality.

Results showed considerable variation among the tested genotypes on all yield attributes.

In this respect, four promising genotypes namely: K2, K3, AVT6 and Shuak had significantly better performance compared to the other genotypes.
