William James represents the epistemic scope of the traditional pragmatic trend, that he rejected the possibility of pure theoretical knowledge, and ascribes the truth to measures of interest and success.

He also assumes the human experience as a valid principle to explain the process of knowledge.

James’s research into the cognitive problems, tends to avoid the duality of ontological epistemic, that he believes in one and the many universe, whereas the mind is impartial and aims to totality.

The main point in this area is not whether we know unity or plurality, since the universe is neither simple one nor simple plural, but its appearance in relation between our reality and knowledge.

Here, the epistemological takes the role, inasmuch as the external reality is not identical to our concepts, therefore alien to our mind and not equivalent to our ideas about it.

The ideas about reality must be subjected to experimental judgment to verify their truth, for the truth function is to connect the parts of experience which accounted as a kind of verification like that of pure sciences.

The cohesion of the physical and cognitive world occurs in a process so called experience, joins each other, and forms the actual and potential as possibility for future actuality.

James maintains that thought and the external reality isconstituents of pure experience as their elementary stuff.

Thus, all things and ideas differ in correspondence to their relations and functions.

So any experience can be alternative to the fact of consciousness and also physical reality.
