Abstract EN

This study investigated the effect of mental abacus on enhancement of cognitive capital of basic school pupils, exploring the enhancement of higher mental abilities (IQ, Perception, and creativity), which consider as the main ingredients of cognitive capital.

The study included two experiments, the subjects were basic school students from Khartoum State.

The first experiment was 4-years longitudinal study, consist of (134) students, their data were collected by practical sub-test of WISC-3, the sample divided into two group, they matched for some social variables, experimental group was (71), control group was (72), experiment explored the effect of mental abacus on enhancement of P-IQ, perceptual organization index, and perceptual speed index.

Whereas, the second experiment was descriptive study, investigated the effect of abacus training on creativity, it consist of (1.116) student, divided to two groups, mental abacus trained and untrained group, the data colleted by (TTCT).

The treatment groups received mental abacus training for (80) weeks, while the control groups didn’t receive any treatment.

The results indicated that; there are significant statistical differences in practical IQ at (0.03) differences are (9.4) points, perceptual speed at (0.04) differences are (8.6) points, general creativity, fluency of creativity, and flexibility of creativity at (0.001) the mean differences are (10.1, 4.1, 1.4, 4.6) respectively in favor of mental abacus trained group.

Finally the researcher presented some recommendations.
