Abstract AR
(Austenitic Temp).
(Quenching Medium).
Abstract EN
The object of this paper a study of hardness of Locomotive axle steel, 0.35% C content, is performed in Sudan Railway Corporation (S.R.C).
The study included the hardening of specimens at two different austenitic temp.
(9000C and 9600C), two soaking times (20 and 36 minutes) and three different quenching media (oil, brine, water (A correlation between hardness and the tempering temperatures was proposed.
So hardness under any tempering condition can easily be predicted with reasonable accuracy.
