Abstract EN

This study aimed at analyzing the main reasons behind the lack of desire of UAE national males to work as school teachers.

Also the importance of nationalizing teaching careers, the negative results of this phenomenon, and the actions or procedures that could be done to encourage national males to work as teachers were studied.

A total of 366 freshmen students from the UAE University (UAEU) and 66 faculty members from UAEU and Ajman University participated in this study.

Results indicated that nationalizing teaching careers is important to achieve many goals: 1) facilitating the implementation of any educational policy; 2) offering jobs opportunities; 3) improving the teacher’s role to deal and understand students effectively; and 4) offering a social model for national students to follow.

Also results showed that there are significant negative results of this phenomenon such as: 1) heterogeneity of the educational vision among teachers; 2) increasing students’ misbehaviors; 3) .diminishing role of nationals in educating their kids; and 4) declining students’ academic level.

Although nationalizing teaching profession seems to be a complicated problem that is affected by many factors, this study clarified that there is a lot that could be done to deal with it.

This matter should also be considered within the national strategic plan with the involvement of all related organizations, public and private, under the leadership of the Ministry of Education
