Abstract EN

Optical Emission Spectrometry (OES), Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA) and Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence (EDX) are three methods used to analyze the stainless-steel cookware and tools in the Egyptian market.

It was found that the analyzed samples contain iron in the range of 70%-88%, and chromium in range of 11%-18%.

Most of analyzed samples show remarkable deficiency of nickel, which was associated with the low cost of these tools.

The low nickel content substantially affects the durability of these tools, causing wear off over time and use, subjecting the users to high levels of Fe, Cr and other elements.
