Time (Addahr) constitutes a predominant motif in Ibn Al Zaqaq AL Balansi's poetry.

The poet expresses time either directly within the texture of the poem or through relevant vocabulary.

This study aims at exploring the poet's stand regarding time, the extent to which he experiences it and the way he expresses this experience.

Time (Addahr), in Al-Balansi's poetry, turns out into a frame where emotions reach to the maximum, which explains the great extent of the struggle the poet experiences in his painfully sad, melancholic and catastrophic life.

The study concludes that one of the major causes for the poet's sense of melancholy is the successive death cases that befell his beloved ones, including his brother, some friends, people he praised in his poetry and his wife.

This is in addition to the accusations he was charged of such as literary and linguistic shortcomings notwithstanding his eloquence and distinction.

As a result, the poet embarked on displacing his anger on time and society, in addition to all living things.

This is expressed in meaningful diction, strong phrases, and poetic images that represent his reality, reflect his psyche and his view of time.
