Abstract EN

This research is an interdisciplinary study .

It aims at applying a modern linguistic theory upon an ancient legistlative text.

This research investigates the elements of textual Cohesion in Hamourabi’s Code, and it sheds light mainly upon the grammatical and lexical aspects of the text, and It seeks to recognize the main points that characterize Hamourabi's text.

This text which dates back to 17th century B.C.

tests the legistlative structure of the text in comparison with the contemporary criteria, that are followed in codifying the modern legistlative texts.

This research rests upon the descriptive-analytical methodology.

The material of this research is derived from the German Orientalist in his book (Babylonisch - Assyrische Lesestuke) .

This study concludes that; the modern textual criteria are applied in Hamourabi’s ancient Code.

This Code is committed so well to the contemporary legistlative texts.
