Abstract EN

This study aimed at developing an instructional unit from the tenth grade civic and national education textbook in light of the royal endowments and initiatives, and measuring its effect on students achievement to enhance good citizenship behavior.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher prepared a list of royal endowments and initiatives that must be included in the tenth grade civic and national education textbook.

The instructional unit was developed in light of the prepared royal list.

An achievement test was prepared according to the developed unit consisting of twenty multiple choice items, and then a measuring scale consisting of 50 items has been used to measure citizenship behavior among students.

The study sample consisted of (98) tenth grade students of both male and female in the schools of a Bani Kinanah district in Irbid governorate in the academic year 2012/2013.

The sample was randomly selected on clustery basis from two schools; two sections for each school, one section is experimental, and the other is controller.

The study findings show statistical evidences for differences, at the level (α =0.05), in the means of performance on the achievement tests and responses on the scale of citizenship behavior amongst tenth grades students due to developed instructional unit variable.

On the other hand, there were no statistical differences in the means of students performance on achievement tests, and citizenship behavior scale due to gender, and the interaction between gender and developed instructional unit.
