English Abstract

The information security has become one of the most significant problems in data communication, so it becomes an inseparable part of data communication.

In order to address this problem, steganography and cryptography are combined.

These two processes are used for sending information in a secret way.

The goal of both processes is to provide protection for information but in different ways.

Cryptography is the art and science for secured data transmission, although it achieves assured security effects by making the secret message unreadable or worthless, these unnatural messages usually attract some unauthorized observer’s attention.

So that, steganography uses specified medias to be as a cover to hide the secret information in a manner that prevents discovering the presence of secret information by any attacker.

This dissertation proposes an improved technique that combines both Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm for cryptography, and steganography that takes the advantages of using the high frequency coefficients of the cover image by applying the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT).

Moreover, it utilizes the properties of the 24-bit RGB images.

The proposed technique is intended to study the effect of hiding the encrypted secret message in 24-bit Red Green Blue (RGB) image.

The performance is evaluated in terms of the Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), the payload, and the histogram.

Comparison to other four associated works will be presented.

Experimental results reveal that high PSNR values are obtained, in addition to that moderate payload is provided, which means that the proposed method gives a robust and secure method for data hiding.
