English Abstract
This thesis investigates from a pragmatic perspective the different expressions used in social media sites to express the reaction of Jordanian citizens toward capturing and executing the Jordanian pilot Moaz AlKasasbeh during three different periods (before, during, and after).
The study discusses and analyses such expressions within the framework of Speech Act Theory.
An introduction has been introduced in chapter one.
The pragmatic approach in general and speech act theory in particular have been outlined in chapter two.
In the third chapter the methodology of this thesis has been expressed, which uses screenshots by phone from four different social media sites (Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram).
In chapter four, the analysis of the expressions and reactions produced by Jordanians have been discussed according to Speech Act Theory.
More than 300 images are taken from different social media sits before, during, and after the execution of Moaz AlKasasbeh.
The problem is that non of such expressions have been studied from a linguistic or a pragmatic perspective.
The contribution of this work is presenting a linguistic and a pragmatic analysis about the reactions of social media users to the case of Moaz AlKasasbeh
