Objectives
- Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to : -Explain the history and background of conventional mutual funds and discuss its key features and types. -Adequately discuss the key principles of Islamic banking, referencing the sources of Islamic law, and then specifically relating it with Islamic mutual funds. -Review the history of Islamic banking and the essential elements of the current Islamic banking industry, relating it to the growth of the Islamic mutual funds industry. -Identify and analyse key features of Islamic mutual funds in comparison to their conventional equivalents. -Illustrate the structure of Islamic mutual funds and explain the rules and regulations pertaining to it.
Field work
This course is for individuals who would like to gain an in-depth understanding of Islamic mutual funds, including investment officers, fund managers, treasury officers or marketing officers who deal with Islamic mutual funds.

Features of the course
-The course is conducted using a combination of lectures, discussions, case studies, and an end-of-course assessment. Students are also expected to complete an additional 4 hours of self-study. Note : this course is assessed.
