This research addresses the developmental role of education in the Gulf States from a critical sociological perspective.

The study focuses on the ambiguous role of education in the development process within the context of the social and cultural life.

The study aims to explore the developmental challenges facing the GCC countries and to analyze various aspects of the relationship between the educational system in these countries and the development process in its various manifestations and expressions.

The problematic of the study consists in providing answers to the three following questions: What is the reality of development in the Arabian Gulf States? What are their 1.

trends and dimensions? Does this development take its humanitarian and comprehensive dimension within a sustainable development path? Does education in the Arab Gulf exercise its expected and required 2.

developmental role? Or, on the contrary, it exerts a negative role in the development process? What are the obstacles that prevent education from performing their role in the 3.

development process? In response to these questions, the study revealed the following findings: The development takes a purely economic nature in the Gulf States where the focus is on financial and economic aspects of the development process.

-Education couldn>t merge the development process actively and effectively in addition developmental plans do not take into account the importance of education in the development process.

There is a set of cultural and social factors that prevent the effective role of education in the development process, particularly the traditional system of cultural values that are totally at variance with the educational effectiveness of development.

The study concluded that there is a need to achieve strategic communication between education and development in order to achieve comprehensive advancement in these countries.

And finally, a number of important recommendations were formulated in the light of the findings of the study in the area of strategic interaction development in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
