English Abstract
This research aims at exploring the density of relexicalisation in written dialogues produced by M.A Applied Linguistics' students at the Department of English Language and Literature at Mu'tah University.
It includes 22 participants selected randomly and produced 11 inquiry written dialogues.
This study involves two research instruments that are; Hoey's (1991) Matrix of Lexical Cohesion and a Semi-structured Interview.
It includes four chapters; the theoretical background, the literature review, the design and methodology and finally, the findings and discussion and recommendations of the study.
The findings indicated that the density of relexicalisation in the M.A students’ written dialogues is very low as a result for the inadequate level of students’ knowledge of the importance of relexicalisation that plays a significant role in the solidarity, continuity and overall cohesion of the written dialogues.
This research recommends that further research be conducted to investigate other types of dialogues.
