English Abstract

In this study we reporte the measured and calculated some physical properties ( density, specific gravity, refractive index and optical rotation) for different concentrations of aqueous carob molasses solutions and for different concentrations of aqueous Arabic gum solutions in the temperature range between 20 to 65oC.

This study verified that the specific refraction is independent of temperature for most of theoretical modeling of mixing rule equations.

But the most stable with temperature was Eykman's relation.

The adulteration of carob can be easily obtained using the experimental measurements of refractive index, viscosity, density, optical rotation and spectral absorption.

Results show a good agreement between the measured and calculated values of refractive index and viscosity using Souders method.

This research shows that the studied empirical relations give a good description of the temperature and concentration effects on all measured and calculated physical properties.

The agreement between the calculated and measured values in this research with the values published in other scientific researches confirms the accuracy of used methods.

This scientific dissertation shows that the carob molasses is a dextrorotatory substance and the Arabic gum is a levorotatory substance.

Study also report the calculated values of Cauchy's and Sellmeier's coefficients, which describe the relationship between refractive index and wavelength.
