English Abstract

The study addresses the importance of the use of thermal insulation materials in buildings to reduce energy loss as a result of heating and cooling conditions.

Climate change, the beginning of the depletion of fossil fuels, and the increasing expansion in investment projects in various industrial, agricultural, health care, and scientific fields, all play a key role in the increasing demand for energy.

Energy is considered one of the biggest priorities and challenges facing the Jordanian economy due to lack of conventional energy sources of crude oil and natural gas used in energy generation.

The use of thermal insulation materials in buildings is one way to reduce energy consumption.

Therefore, this work will concentrate on the role of engineering managment of thermal insulation of Mutah University Engineering buliding as a case study.

The Thermal Loads were calculated for four buildings, with and without thermal insulation, by using four different insulation materials.

The selection of these materials depended on availability in the market, cost of implementation and the coefficient of thermal conductivity .

The results of this work showed that the polystyrene expended thickness of 10 cm is the best material for the thermal insulation in comparison of the others insulations.

Its reduction ratio in thermal transmittance reached up to 76%, and in volume ratio of central heating fuel system reachedup to 26.7%, due to its thermal conductivity coefficient compared to coil rockwool, the market cost, ease of implementation and its weakness to interact with construction materials such as cement and water, etc
