Bankruptcy, business dispute : [failure to pay student loan]

Dear Dr. Monzer, As-Salamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatu Allah wabarakatu First of all, Eid Mubarak and may Allah accept from you and us all good deeds. Below is a financial question that I received from a member in my community. Hisham Canada I have a question and I need advice. I borrowed money from the government to go to university and when I graduated I did not find a job for 3 years. After 2 years they were going to start to charge interest. I was forced to bankruptcy. This was many years ago. The loans were wiped out as they were the only debt I had at the time. I am wondering now that I am working should I repay the loans. If so, can I donate the money to a charity or Masjid instead since it is not really possible to repay a loan to the government that has been cleared ? Jazakallahu Khairan.
