Rickets is a disease of the skeleton of the child in growth.
It must be considered as a priority public health problem regarding the increase of its prevalence all over the world.
It is about a clinical and radiogical condition that may be caused by several etiologies.
The most frequent cause is the deficiency in vitamin D and it corresponds to the deficiency rickets that the best treatment is actually prevention.
The vitamino-resistant rickets, rarer, are secondary to genetic or acquired abnormalities of the phosphocalcic metabolism that cannot be prevented by the usual prophylaxis of carentiel rickets.

Le rachitisme est une maladie du squelette de l’enfant en croissance.
Il doit être considéré comme un problème de santé publique prioritaire avec une augmentation de la prévalence partout dans le monde.
Il s’agit d’un syndrome clinique et radiologique qui répond à plusieurs étiologies.
La cause la plus fréquente est la carence en vitamine D correspondant au rachitisme carentiel dont le meilleur traitement est la prévention qui doit être systématique.
Les rachitismes vitamino-résistants, plus rares, sont secondaires à des anomalies génétiques ou acquises du métabolisme phosphocalcique non prévenus par la prophylaxie habituelle du rachitisme carentiel.
