English Abstract

The main theme of this thesis is to study fuzzy set theory, in general, and fuzzy pattern recognition of upper case handwritten characters, in particular.

A modified fuzzy approach for pattern recognition had been introduced, which has its basis on using only one membership function in the extraction between different types of a straight line.

Also, one of the most important themes of this thesis is to build up a modified approach with an algorithm to classify and recognize between all handwritten English upper case letters.
