Abstract EN

Background & Objective: Pathogenic germs have developed an increasing resistance toward many antibiotics which form a true problem for human being ,because these germs can transport to him by many ways such as water ,food and air that may cause many dangerous diseases to human being.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of extractions prepared from different parts of the flowing plants: Olea europea Linn(Oleaceae) , Myrtus communis Linn(Liliaceae) ,Majorana syriacus Linn (Laminaceae), Zingiber officinale Linn(Zingiberaceae),and Achillea falcata Linn(Asteraceae), against Pseudomonas Aeruginosa.

Methods & Materials: We achieved this work in four stages: First of all, we investigated the presence of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa in 667 Samples of milk by using blood agar, selective agar for growing of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, and Analytical Profile Index(API20e).Secondly, we extracted the previous plants with water, absolute alcohol, ether by using soxhlet apparatus and rotary vaccum evaporator.

Thirdly, we determined the antibacterial activity of many antibiotics by using disc diffusion method( Muller-Hinton agar).

fourthly, we determined the antibacterial activity of the extractions by using disc diffusion method.

Results: This study has shown the presence of different antibacterial effectiveness of the extracts prepared from different parts of those plants.

The extraction of Achillea falcata has the strongest effectiveness against Pseudomonas Aeruginosa whereas the extraction of Zingiber officinale has the weakest effectiveness against Pseudomonas Aeruginosa. The studied antibiotics could not show any antibacterial effectiveness against these germs except Amikacin which has an acceptable effectiveness against those germs.

Conclusion: Since the alcoholic extractions of the studied plants have an antibacterial effectiveness ,we recommend to investigate the probable antibacterial effectiveness of those plants against another germs specially which have shown resistance toward antibiotics
