Abstract EN

Background & Objective :with development of Rhinoplasty and the technique of surgery the surgeons can understand the anatomic mechanisms which cause the formalism changes on nose after the surgery , and may continue several months after surgery, by a lot of publications and researches during last years.

But few of these researches identify the accurate quantitative relation between the anatomic modifications which they do during surgery and between the formalism changes on nose and face after rhinoplasty.

The Aim of this research is Identify the relation between the width of the removed part from caudal end of Quadrangular cartilage and the change on the Nasolabial angle.

Materials&Methods: the research has been performed on 61 patients undergone a Delivery approach Rhinoplasty , Digital lateral pictures of the nose and the face have been taken before and after 6 month of surgery , the Nasolabial angle has been measured using the AutoCAD 2010 program.

All patients have divided into 7 groups (the first group has not undergone removal of the any part from caudal end of Quadrangular cartilage- the second group has undergone a remove of 1 mm from the caudal part of the Quadrangular cartilage– the third group: 2 mm have been removed – the fourth group: 3 mm have been removed – the fifth group: 4 mm have been removed – the sixth group: 5 mm have been removed – the seventh group: 6 mm have been removed.

Results: we noticed a simple change in the Nasolabial angle when there was no removal of any part of the Quadrangular cartilage(+2.46 degrees), while when 1 mm is removed from the caudal end of the Quadrangular cartilage the change was (+4.3 degrees), and (5.33 degrees) when 2 mm was removed.

And +)6.8) degrees when 3 mm was removed, and+) 9 degrees) when 4 mm was removed, and (+ 11.71) degrees when 5 mm was removed, and (+13.3 degrees) when 6 mm was removed.

Conclusion: there is a strong positive relation between the width of cartilage which removed from the caudal part of the Quadrangular cartilage and the change on the Nasolabial angle
