Abstract EN

Background & Objective: This study aims to evaluate zirconia bond strength bonded with resin cement after deferent surface treatments.

Materials & methods: 40 blocks of Y-TZP zirconia was milled, and divided into 4 groups due to surface treatment: (1) no treatment (2) alumina sandblasting (3) laser irradiation (4) silanization, treated surfaces was bonded to composite discs with Multilink Automix resin cement.

Shear bond strength of the luted blocks was measured by Universal testing machine (speed 0.5 m /min).The statistical analyses was conducted using ANOVA, Bonferroni,T-student, Q2 .

Then occurrence of the patterns of failure was studied.

Results: The mean values of shear bond strengths: Nd:YAG laser (13.38±3.16) MPa>silanization (12.28±3.50) MPa > alumina sandblasting (11.26±1.84) MPa>no treatment (4.57±1.83)MPa.

The statistical results at 95% confidence level show that there are bilateral differences statistically significant in means of shear bond strength in all groups of surface treatment.

There are bilateral differences statistically significant in occurrence of patterns of failure.

Conclusion: surface treatment is better than no treatment, Nd:YAG laser irradiation increase bond strength of Y-TZP Zirconia cemented with resin cement between NL group and AS,S,NT groups .
