Abstract EN

Background & Objective: Elastin and collagen loss from the dermal layer is essential cause for wrinkles in the face.

Dermal fillers is the solution for this problem and this study compared clinical improvement degree and the duration of correction between hyaluronic acid (Matrigel) versus bovine collagen (Zyplast) for the correction of nasolabial fold .

Methods & Materials: 24 cases at12 patients(11female and 1male ) their age was between 25-56 years(the mean age 42,1years) with moderate to deep nasolabial folds were randomized to treatment with (Matrigel) and (Zyplast) on contra lateral sides of the face until achievement" optimal cosmetic result"2d digital photos were taken for the patients before and after injections (after 1, 3,6 months ) then these photos were evaluated by 3 blinded investigators ,Statistical study was carried out by using Wilcoxon test with (p<0,05).

Results: There is no significant difference between the two materials in the correction of nasolabial fold(P> 0,05) and no significant difference in the duration of correction (P> 0,05) , each material persists for 3months.

But regress after six months.

Conclusion: There is no difference in efficacy between the two materials in the correction of nasolabial fold when the treatment is for once.
