Abstract EN

As the title indicates, this paper addresses the historical dimension of Greater Syria( Bilad E-Sham) as expressed in the poetry versified in the region during the Umayyed age.

The paper endeavored to present a historical image of Greater Syria as alluded to in the poetry of that age.

This poetry highlighted the status of E-Sham religiously, politically, militarily and culturally.

In studying the poetry texts of the time, the researcher used the inductive descriptive method.

He induced the poetry models which mentioned sites in Greater Syria.

The poets of the time highlighted the religious, political, military and cultural contents which signified the status, role and importance of Greater Syria in Islamic history.
