Abstract EN

Background and Objective: Evaluation the success rate of short dental implants in severely absorbed posterior mandibular areas In Patients with Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus.

Materials and methods the sample consisted of (42) patients (22 males +20 females), the patients were ranging between (47-63 years)with mean age of (54) years with controlled diabetes mellitus type II, 50 short implants type of Bicon with implants length between (5-8 mm) and diameter between (4-5 mm) placed in severely absorbed posterior mandibular areas.

Patient follow-up was based on: Clinical follow-up by using pain, inflammation, and numbness, and Radiographic , and follow-up: x-ray was taken to note: bone resorption, and the apical radiolucency around the implant.

The follow-up was performed in the following period: directly after implantation, after 3 months, after 6 months, and after 9 months, and Electronic follow-up was performed by ostell (Resonance Frequency Analysis) to examine the reliability and stability of dental implants.

Follow-up was also performed with HbA1c, and blood sugar was controlled before eating.

Strict attention of oral hygiene was our major concern.

statistical analysis T Test, Anova, Bonferroni, Cochran’s were used with P< 0,O5.

Results:Success rate of short dental implants was 98%.

The value of the significance level much higher than the value 0.05 at a level of confidence in 95% there is no statistically significant differences valuable recurrence of pain, bleeding, inflammation, numbness, plaque stability and resorption between the time periods studied.

Through to these Results the importance of this study is that : the possibility to use Short dental implants in severely absorbed posterior mandibular areas in patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus with high success ,the second importance: this study is one of rare study that treat this subject.

Conclusion: according to this study Short dental implants can be used successfully in severely absorbed posterior mandibular areas in patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus.
