English Abstract
Exaggeration generally is a prevalent linguistic phenomenon in all the human communities over the world, and not restricted in Arab communities including the Jordanian society.
Exaggeration is often being used in all the ordinary conversational situations.
This study intends to investigate and identify the semantic and pragmatic features of exaggeration and the positive and negative politeness strategies of exaggeration in karaki Arabic.
Based on and nearly (10.000) people from Al-jaafreh tribe who live in Al-karak district, distributed in three main locations, That Rass, Rakeen and the central district of karak city and around.
Due to the large number of the population, the study limits its sample to (300) people of which (100) people are taken from each area (50 males and 50 females).
The data were classified, described and analyzed qualitatively and descriptively.
The findings of this study show that there were eight semantics and five pragmatics feature of exaggeration and ten positive and eleven negative politeness strategies of exaggeration.
