English Abstract

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a multicarrier transmission technique that becomes the best choice in wireless high-datarate transmission.

OFDM offers high data rate, spectral efficiency and simple receiver.

The main drawback of OFDM system is a high Peak-to- Average Power Ratio (PAPR) at transmitter which decreases the amplifier’s efficiency.

Many techniques are used to reduce PAPR such as, clipping and filtering, Partial Transmitted Sequence (PTS) and selected mapping, etc.

The thesis presents a hybrid technique comprised of PTS and improved clipping to reduce high PAPR.

The performance of the proposed technique was compared with different reduction techniques using Matlab/Simulink simulation.

The results showed that proposed technique reduces PAPR and maintains a good BER performance depending on the changing of a weighting factor in an improved clipping technique.
