Abstract EN

The aim of this study was to find out some factors associated with nutritional status and obesity among women in Marrakech, Morocco.

A total sample of 436 women aged 18 years and above was selected.

The results revealed that the prevalence of overweight and obesity was 37.4% and 32.8%, respectively.

A statistically significant association was found between body mass index and age, economic status and education.

Body image was also found to be associated with weight status of women.

It was concluded that social, economic and cultural factors were important determinants to weight status, and therefore should be considered in any health preventive programme.
