This paper includes a preface and two sections.

The first section provides a definition of the Prophet's basin (al-hawdh), and the proofs of its authenticity.

The second section deals with the creed of the Sunnis with regards to all the Companions.

The first section provides hadiths about the basin taken from the Sunni hadith books.

The second section deals with the Shi'ite abuse of the basin hadith in an attempt to substantiate the apostasy of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them).The third topic discusses the response to the Shi'ite allegations that aim to prove the apostasy of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them).
